Jamie and Brandon Tracy transformed their single vacation rental property into a thriving short-term rental management business (Pintler Cabins), where they now manage 9+ other Montana-based properties.
When Jamie became a stay-at-home mom, she and her husband, Brandon, decided to invest in building a tiny cabin in Brandon’s hometown of Philipsburg, Montana. They never imagined the decision would become the foundation of Pintler Cabins, a thriving property management business. What began as a passion project—sharing the magic of their own cabin with guests—has evolved into a boutique property management business with 10 cabins under their care.

As bookings increased and guest communications grew more complex, Jamie realized their initial tools weren’t keeping up. Pintler Cabins turned to a property management system (PMS). Ultimately, the provider they chose offered limited functionality and little support, making it difficult to get set up correctly and operate effectively. It became clear that to continue growing (and ensure the level of service guests expected), Pintler Cabins needed a single, reliable, unified platform.
A Google search provided suggestions for the best property management systems, including Hostfully. Impressed by Hostfully’s product demo, and intrigued by the PMS’s active Facebook user community, Jamie and Brandon decided to switch over to Hostfully.
From day one of Hostfully’s onboarding process, Brandon and Jamie knew they’d made the right decision. As Jamie learned with her first PMS, setting up any complicated software can be overwhelming. But with Hostfully, what initially felt like a complex process, quickly became a smooth transition, thanks to Jamie’s Onboarding Specialist. As she recalls, “Was it daunting? Yes. But the person that helped us set this up was so patient and kind. He knew Hostfully inside and out. Gave us advice with grace. He was incredible.”

That sense of partnership extended beyond setup. Hostfully’s dedicated support team, combined with the Facebook user community, made Pintler Cabins feel supported at every step of their growth. “I couldn’t do what I’m doing at this scale without Hostfully. It’s worth it. The support is there, and the other Hostfully users in the Facebook group are also a great resource. We did not have this experience when we tried another PMS at the beginning of our journey.”
While Jamie is quick to cite Hostfully’s color-coded pipeline view and analytics dashboard, among other features, it’s the PMS’s Unified Inbox and communications capabilities that quickly became the cornerstone of Pintler Cabins’ operations. Simply put, “I didn’t want to have to communicate with guests on multiple different platforms.”
By consolidating every guest message across booking platforms into a single, organized space, Jamie can now communicate more efficiently with guests and owners. Whether initiated on Airbnb, Vrbo, or their direct booking site, all of Jamie’s messages come into her Hostfully inbox, making it easy to respond without having to bounce back and forth between conversations across platforms or tabs.
Hostfully’s InboxAI has further streamlined operations by automatically pulling accurate information from her guidebooks and property data to help generate and assist with timely responses. “On the go, it’s so much easier for InboxAI to just pull the info and answer the question for me, and then I can shoot that message off to the guest.” While Jamie and Brandon don’t live in the state, “We travel to Montana a lot, and I’m regularly away from my computer when not traveling; I use InboxAI from my phone all the time to respond to guests. Most of the time, it writes a better response than I would have in the first place.”
Additionally, Jamie uses Hostfully’s templates and triggers to customize routine messaging. “I love messing around in there and coming up with new messages to keep guests informed, or even owners informed,” Jamie says. “There’s so much you can do!”
Jamie also leans on internal communications daily via Hostfully’s chatbot, Flash the Sloth, to help guide her to resources and answer her questions. “Flash the sloth is amazing. He’s my best friend!” she laughs. “I talk to him every day. If I have a question that I can’t locate an answer for quickly in the Help center by myself, Flash answers it for me, and cites the help center article. It’s super helpful.”

Despite local economic headwinds, Pintler Cabins has achieved a 1.8% increase in average daily rate (ADR) year-over-year, proving that better workflows and automation translate into improved performance. Now, with reliable guidance and responsive communication, Jamie can navigate operations solo through Hostfully, while Shanna (Brandon’s sister) and the new cleaning team they assembled last summer, handle on-the-ground turnovers and maintenance. Brandon focuses on business development, which includes a pipeline of 15 additional properties under consideration—and a growing waitlist.
“Would I recommend Hostfully to other property managers? Absolutely. 100% all day, every day. I love it,” Jamie exclaims with confidence. “Hostaway recently reached out, and my response was, ‘Nope, not interested.’ I don’t need to go anywhere else. Hostfully covers all of my needs!”
Pintler Cabins has also discovered new revenue opportunities through Hostfully’s Digital Guidebooks. The Marketplace feature allows them to offer upsells like early check-ins and checkouts: extra income for minimal (if any) work. When Jamie’s last-minute decision to offer a “Romance Package” in the company’s guidebooks was purchased by a guest, Jamie and team needed to hustle to make it happen. Now, what seemed like a random experiment has become a burgeoning hospitality opportunity.
